His first dog was an English Springer Spaniel. His first show dogs were
Afghan Hounds which is where the 'dehra' kennel name comes from. He first
saw the PBGV while working for an Afghan kennel in Holland in the early
seventies. A little later he joined the Jomil BGV and Fredwell Basset kennel
in the UK where he bred both breeds and later Bassets Fauves de Bretagne
under the Jomil, Varon, Fredwell and Dehra names. Later he and Vivien Phillips
imported the first GBGV into the UK. In 1995 he moved to the USA where
he continued to breed and show his PBGVs and a final couple of litters
of Basset hounds. Dehra has produced well over a hundred champions world
wide.
In the UK Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were added to the kennel and were bred more seriously in the USA producing a number of Champions and group placers. Nick's judging career has taken him all over the world. In the USA he is currently licenced to judge all Hound breeds, Cavaliers, Labradors and Irish, English and Gordon Setters. He first judged in Denmark over twenty years ago. |
Moa Persson Born in 1951 and some of my friends
says I grew up in a whelpingbox. Went to my first dogshows already
as a 5 year old and has kept my interest ever since. I have had the fortune
to have some of Swedens best and most famous dogbreeders and judges as
my mentors such as Ulla Segerström, Bertil Sted-Gren, Sigyn Littorin
and Ulla Magnusson, they all took me under their wings and told me what
was right and wrong in different breeds. This also made me have a great
respect for the knowledge excellent dogbreeders stands for.
In the mid-sixties I started handling dogs of many different breeds and at the end of the 70-ies I had made up nearly 300 Champions in many different breeds. I became a judge in 1979, first for 6 flat-faced toybreeds and after having judged for 5 years I continued with the bulltyped breeds in all different groups and also later in the 80-ies the Bassetbreeds. I became an all –breeds judge in 1992 and have been privileged to judge dogs nearly all over the world. Still breed and show myself, Labradors, Goldens and some Pugs under the prefix of Rossmix. My first real connection with Basset Hound came through Mrs Joan Wells-Mecham, Fredwell Bassets whom I got to know in the late sixties and she taught me a lot about the breed and also later the Petits, that she was the one to introduce to Britain. I have always liked these breeds and have tried to keep up with what happends. I´m really looking forward to meet you and your 4-legged people in June. Märsta 7th of February ,2010 Moa Persson |
